An Obituary/Eulogy for Mary Bollas
To know the secret of death, one must seek it in the heart of life.
For what is to die, to cease breathing, but to free the spirit that it may rise
and expand and seek God unencumbered.
We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of our beloved Mary, a blessed daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, relative and a friend. A beautiful woman
who fulfilled all those roles with consummate love and devotion. An exemplary
role model whose life was characterized, first and foremost, by Christian virtues.
She was devoted to her family, a nurturing and loving mother, an active participant and steward of church life, a consummate homemaker, a creative floral designer and a kindred spirit to all her friends. Life was full of joy and goodness.
Mary has, indeed, left a rich legacy of memories, with those she loved most, her children Barbara and Nicholas and grandchildren, Alanna, Michael, Julia, Shane, London and Finn, along with their spouses Scott and Theresa. Active in their everyday lives, they will always remember their mother and wonderful Yiayia.
She touched everyone that knew her, with her incredible spirit. A heaviness was instantly lifted whenever she dazzled someone with her beautiful smile. The glass was never half empty. Her perpetually positive, upbeat outlook on life never wavered, even in the most difficult of times. Her faith in God and the Greek Orthodox Church gave her family the foundation to be good Christians, and to pass that joy and love of Jesus onto their own children.
Even when sadness exists in our hearts, we should rejoice that Mary's
spirit has risen and she has found her place among the angels. All pain and suffering have been vanquished; only beauty and lights exists in God's heaven and in the bosom of His infinite glory and love.
May her blessed memory be eternal.
