Marsha Rose Magee Cargill (56) passed away peacefully at the West Roxbury V.A. Hospital in Massachusetts, on August 10, 2025, with family by her side after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born in Seoul, South Korea, and spent her early life in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Pompano Beach, Florida, and New Delhi, India, before making her home in Cambridge.

She was a proud veteran who served 3 years in the U.S. Navy based in Norfolk, Virginia, during the Gulf War (Desert Storm), as a rank E-3 seaman.

She was a vibrant and passionate woman who championed causes including veterans' rights, animal rights, and homelessness. Despite physical limitations, due to her illness, she valiantly took part—using a walker to do so—in a Washington, D.C. 2-day event with EMPath, advocating for economic justice.

Even in her last weeks at the V.A. Hospital, she charmed the doctors, nurses, and staff with her humor, wit, and determined spirit.

Marsha is preceded in death by her father, James Magee, her mother Laure Magee, and brother Eric Patch. She is survived by her stepmother, Ann Magee, and sisters, Lisa Goldstein (Gavriel), Elaina Sautter, Arla Patch, Melanie Saigol (Samir), Seana Magee, and Sheila Magee, as well as her niece Saoirse Beare and dear friend Charlie Michaels. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Gizzy Girl, Souffle, and Simon.

A service will be held on Wednesday, August 20th, at Cambridge Cemetery (76 Coolidge Ave, Cambridge, MA 02138). Please arrive by 12:45 pm at the front gate to be escorted to the ceremony.
