Obituary

BOSTON - Marilyn Gail (Hastings) Raiche, was born to Clifton and Lillian Hastings on January 17, 1929, and died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 8, 2016, after a long illness. A graduate of Central High School in Manchester, New Hampshire, Marilyn married the love of her life, Roland Raiche, in 1948 and they settled first in Manchester and then in Bedford. They celebrated 65 years of marriage in 2013. In addition to being a loving, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Marilyn was involved in many civic organizations over the years, including serving as president of the Manchester Women's Club during the 1960s. After an early retirement, Marilyn and Roland split their time between their beloved Lake Winnipesaukee and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea in Florida, where she enjoyed creating events at their community's club house and visiting with friends and family. After Roland passed away in 2014, Marilyn moved to Boston to live with her daughter Cheryl and Cheryl's life partner Jennifer. Marilyn was a beloved friend and neighbor, making friends wherever she went with her sense of humor and beautiful smile. She was preceded in death by her husband Roland, their son Lane, her brothers Elliot, Harold, David, and Bill; granddaughter Krystin Journey Raiche, and great- granddaughter Saige Marie Raiche. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Raiche and her partner, Jennifer Wry; Mark Raiche; and Glenn Raiche and his wife, Colleen. Marilyn leaves 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to VNA Care of Boston or the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are being made through Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
