Luis L. Crespo, Sr. of West Roxbury, Mass., died peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on October 17, 2023. Born in Cuba, on June 20, 1924, he came to the United States in 1968 and settled in Massachusetts in 1970.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Magaly (Lastra) with whom he shared his life for the past 62 years, his son, Luis Crespo, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Crespo of Dunstable, Mass. and two grandchildren, Andrew Crespo and his wife, Emily Crespo of New York, NY and Sarah Crespo and her fiancé, Christopher Anzivino, of Shrewsbury, Mass. along with several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his six sisters and parents.

Luis worked as an accountant at several companies in Boston throughout his career.  After his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering and won the Silver Dove Award in 1997 for outstanding commitment to volunteer services. In 2009, he wrote Rebel in Paradise, a fictional Civil War love story. Luis was a devoted member of the St. Theresa of Avila Parish in West Roxbury for 45 years.

Luis loved traveling - whether it be exploring Italy, Spain or Portugal or relaxing on a cruise. Most of all, Luis loved his family.  He will always be remembered by his loved ones for his youthful spirit and kind heart.

Funeral from The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Monday October 23, at 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa of Avila Church, West Roxbury at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment Calvary Cemetery Waltham.
