Joyce Ann Sawyer was born on May 29, 1965, in Richmond,Virginia to the late James Lee Sawyer and Barbara Jean Tatem. Joyce moved to Boston, MA at the age of 8, along with her 5 siblings and mother to start a new life. Joyce attended the Phillips Brooks elementary School in Roxbury. From there she went on to the Mather school in Dorchester. Her high school years were spent at Jamaica Plain High school in Jamaica Plain, Ma. Joyce was introduced to the church as a young girl by her late mother and grandmother. However, it wasn't until her adult years that she understood the importance of a relationship with the Lord, and she decided to get baptized in Jesus name. She was ready to serve the Lord and boy did she. Joyce established and had the luxury of having a few church families that loved and supported her. Prior to her passing, Joyce was attending The Glorious Church of Jesus Church in Hyde Park, Ma. Joyce was in love with the Glorious family and they loved her. She was known to the church as Queen Joyce and she wore a beautiful crown to prove it. She developed a deep and spiritual friendship with Ministers Joseph and Beverly White along with members of The Glorious Church. Joyce loved the Lord and spoke to everyone she knew or could find in her travels. She often walked the streets passing out Church pamphlets encouraging people to accept the Lord as their savior. Joyce was an avid shopper, always looking for deals to support her crafting projects. She made beautiful baskets and often gave them away as gifts, instead of making a profit. Not only did she make baskets, she made flower arrangements, candles, picture frames of all sizes, wall art, blankets and balloon decorations and so much more. She was very gifted in her skill. On February 15, 2022. Joyce went to be with the love of her life, Jesus. Joyce leaves behind her five children to cherish her memories; Jason Sawyer of Boston, MA, Barbara Sawyer of Boston, MA, Freddrick Sawyer-Brimage of Boston MA, Nathaniel Sawyer of Boston, MA, and Antwan Sawyer of Boston, MA. She also leaves to mourn two sisters: Valerie Sawyer of Dorchester, and Robin Sawyer of Roxbury; two brothers: Michael Sawyer of Roxbury and James Sawyer of Oregon. Nine grandchildren Jaylene, Nasi'r, Ceriah, Cai'rah, Jonathan, Joyce, Julio, Christina and Airela. She is also survived by a loving host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins, distant relatives and friends.
