Fitzgerald, Joseph M. age 90 of Roslindale, March 8, 2022. Beloved husband of Barbara Ann (Spellman). Loving father of Karen McGowan (John) of Dedham, Lynne Corbo (Phil) of Hanover, Tom Fitzgerald (MaryFran) of Marshfield, and Joe Fitzgerald (Kathy) of Marshfield. Joe was a devoted grandfather to twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Joe grew up in Jamaica Plain and was born in Boston to his loving parents, the late Patrick Fitzgerald and Catherine (Walsh) of Dungarvan in Waterford County. Joe was preceded in death by his supportive older brothers John (the late Theresa) of Jamaica Plain and Bill (Barbara) of Milton. Joe is survived by many nieces and nephews and their children.

Joe grew up in Jamaica Plain and enjoyed playing multiple sports at St. Thomas High where he met many of his lifelong friends. Upon the early deaths of his parents, Coach Fr. Charlie McCoy became a mentor and lifelong friend. Joe enlisted in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1954. A graduate of Northeastern University, he had a rewarding career at John Hancock and upon retirement started his own tax business. Joe was a Past Commander of American Legion Post 76. Joe loved sports and enjoyed many years golfing in the West Roxbury Twi League at the George Wright Golf Course.

Joe enjoyed boating and summering on the beach at Marshfield. The Roslindale house was always filled on holidays and all were always welcome. He found joy making others feel comfortable and was happiest with family and friends. Spending time at the Irish Village with his Jamaica Plain pals was high on his list.

Funeral from the Robert J Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury, Saturday, March 12th at 8:30am. Followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church at 9:30am. Visiting hours Friday in the funeral home from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Relative and friends invited. Interment Mt. Benedict Cemetery.
