John J. "Jack" McInnis, of Milton and Chatham, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the 5th of October 2025 at the age of 91.
Born on May 23,1934 and raised in Boston, he was the son of the late George W. McInnis and Anna Casey McInnis. Jack was the beloved partner of Mary Sweeney for 33 years. He was the devoted father of Kathleen Lawler (John), John J. McInnis (Elizabeth), Robert McInnis (Jeanne), Leo McInnis and the late Michael McInnis. He was the cherished grandfather of Michael, Brendan, Kelly, Kristen and Patrick Lawler; John, Colleen, and Sarah McInnis; Joseph, Emily and Jack McInnis; and James McInnis and great-grandfather to Wesley and Rowan Lawler; Luke Bernhardt; and Hazel McInnis.
Jack graduated from Boston College High School, Northeastern University with a BS in Electrical Engineering and Boston College with an MBA. Jack's career was long and varied but the throughline for him was that he enjoyed helping business owners solve problems whether it was while employed by IBM or serving as a consultant for the National Association of the Self-Employed.
Jack was a great Dad, a role he cherished. He was a combination of coach, cheerleader and mentor. He encouraged his children and supported them throughout his life. He was kind, giving and selfless. His intellect was great and his curiosity was boundless.
Jack and Mary traveled the world together creating lasting memories. But walks in a local park or on Harding's Beach in Chatham were also treasured. Jack was a great lover of music and could be found at Symphony Hall, Tanglewood, the Opera House, the Cape Playhouse or many other theaters and concert halls. He listened to and enjoyed music from Abba to Rachmaninoff's Piano Concertos.
He was also a great fan of Boston sports, particularly the Patriots.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Jack's life by gathering for visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE Friday October10, from 4-7 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 11 at 10:30AM in St. Agatha's Church, 432 Adams St., Milton. Burial will be private.
Donations may be made in Jack's honor to the Norwell VNA and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061
