Sullivan
March 24, 1930 – January 15, 2024
SULLIVAN, John J age 93 of Westwood, formerly of Woburn and East Boston. He is survived by his sister, Captain Mary Rose Sullivan, US Navy (Ret.) of Westwood and his brother, James E. Sullivan, Sr. and sister-in-law Margaret (Padden) of West Roxbury. "Uncle Jack" to 10 nieces and nephews and their nearly two dozen children. John was predeceased by his parents John J. Sullivan, Sr. and Elinor M. (Crotty) and his sister, Captain Elinor M. Sullivan, US Navy.
John graduated St. Clement High School and Boston College (Class of 1951). He then joined the Army and served as an artillery officer during the Korean War. A career as a Foreign Service Officer took him to Japan, Laos, Trinidad, Singapore, Nigeria, India, The Netherlands, and back to Korea, as well as to several posts in Washington. In his retirement, John spent many happy summers in York Beach, Maine.
John's family would like to thank the staff at Birch Grove Assisted Living, Old Colony Hospice, and Embrace Home Care, whose compassionate care allowed him to remain at home with family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20, in St. Margaret Mary Church 845 High St. Westwood, at 11:00am. Visitation will be held in the church Saturday morning from 9:30 to 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment New Calvary Cemetery.
