Dr. John R. Harrison

April 10, 1941 - March 23, 2021

John R. Harrison, 79, of Sandy Spring, Maryland, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 23, 2021. Raised in Jamaica Plain, John graduated from Boston College High School where he received the scholar-athlete award. John earned a BA degree from the University of Wisconsin and his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He later completed fellowships in biochemistry at Brandeis University and in endocrinology at the University of Chicago.

John is survived by his three daughters, Lisa Harrison and her husband David of San Jose, CA, Dr. Dora Kassel and her husband Scott of Wallingford, PA, and Helen Miner and her husband Jeffrey of Norwell, MA. He was the grandfather of Thomas, Eavan, Hayden, and Justin. He was the brother of Thomas Harrison and Alice Cawston.

John was an avid reader of history, religion, and art, and a chess enthusiast. He also enjoyed ocean swimming and playing basketball.
