Fassett, Rev. John, passed on December 30, 2012 at 96 years. Born in Gloversville, NY, he graduated from Eastern Baptist Seminary in 1945. He held 3 pastorates in PA and was an American Baptist Missionary in Ohio until 1962 when he came to Boston as Director of Church Development for the Mass. Baptist Convention. Later he became Director of Churchmen's League for Civic Welfare, and also served as a Chaplin in the West Roxbury VA Hospital for over 30 years. He also was an Interim Minister for several Baptist and Congregational Churches in the Boston area and worked as a real estate broker. Rev. Fassett is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marty, and five children and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, 858 Great Plain Ave. in Needham on Jan. 12, at 11:00 AM. After the service, there will be greetings and lunch in the church vestry.
