Jeanne Abramson Greer died August 30 in Boston, MA, of congestive heart failure. She was 90 years old. Born in Houghton, MI, in 1922, to Alfred and Ina Abramson, she attended Suomi College (now Finlandia University), earning an associate's degree in business administration. After graduation, she worked for the National Bank of Houghton. In 1953, she married Frederick Greer in Houghton, MI. The couple moved to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1953. They later retired to Hendersonville, NC. Jeanne was active in the Presbyterian church both in Poughkeepsie and Hendersonville, serving in a variety of capacities. She was also employed for two decades as a bookkeeper for the YWCA in Poughkeepsie. In addition, she did volunteer work for Vassar Hospital (now Vassar Brothers Medical Center), Meals on Wheels, the Girl Scouts, the Hendersonville public library, and various other groups . She is predeceased by her husband Fred, who died in 2002. She leaves her daughter Jane Greer and son-in-law Jos Van der Linde of Boston, MA, and daughter Barbara Greer and son-in-law Pascal Treillardof Palaiseau, France. Two grandsons, Stephane and Eric, of Palaiseau, and a granddaughter, Lia, of Boston, also survive her. A memorial service will be held on October 25 in Boston.
