Obituary

James "Jimmy" Fay of Dorchester, formerly of Cootehill Cavan, Ireland passed away peacefully the morning of November 23rd, 2023 at age 83. And it's just his sense of humor he decided to leave us on Thanksgiving. He is preceded by his parents Patrick and Bridget (McEntee) Fay, brother Hughie Fay, sister Sue Fay, sister in law Ellen "Ellie" Fay and Uncle Jack McEntee and his wife Mary, Aunt Mary Urciuolo and her husband Dom.

At age eighteen, Jimmy immigrated to Boston where he would stay with his uncle Jack and aunt Mary. There Jimmy made his home in Dorchester and joined his uncle Jack in the family business of plastering. Jimmy's brothers Pat and John followed him to Boston, and then formed Fay Brothers Plastering Inc. Jimmy loved his job and carrying on the family business. The Fay Bothers spent a lot a time working in the South End and Beacon Hill neighborhoods specializing in ornamental plastering. Jimmy was a larger than life character, best known for his hilarious sense of humor. He enjoyed meeting friends for a few beers at Nash's Pub and visiting Greenhills Bakery for his sugar fix. Jimmy enjoyed playing Irish Football for the Cavan team of Boston along with the Kimmins Brothers and Bernie Reilly. Jimmy was also known for his huge heart. He mentored countless Irishmen throughout the years.

He opened his home to so many other Irish immigrants looking to start their own business'.

Jimmy enjoyed watching Irish football games and joining in the Irish session at the Irish Cultural Center on Friday nights. He is survived by his sister Mary Fay-Shannon of Norwood, brother Pat of Dorchester and brother John and his wife Sara of Roslindale along with many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by family, friends and those he briefly touched.

Thank you to the staff of St. Joseph's Nursing Center in Dorchester where Jimmy called home for the past 3 years, the nurses and staff at Boston Medical Center that cared for Jimmy until his passing, and Father Dan Finn of the Pastoral Center who often visited him and was a source of great comfort.
