Obituary

Harold Jay "Hal" Weinstein (Unkie) July 2, 1947 – March 2, 2026 Harold Jay Weinstein, lovingly known as Hal and affectionately called "Unkie" by those closest to him, passed away on March 2, 2026, at the age of 78. Hal will be remembered for his quick wit, warm heart, and the unmistakable humor he brought into every room. Family meant everything to him, and he took great joy in being surrounded by the people he loved. Whether sharing stories, offering advice, or delivering one of his perfectly timed sarcastic comments, Hal had a way of making people feel at home. He had many passions throughout his life. Hal loved cooking and was always happy to spend time in the kitchen experimenting with recipes or preparing meals for family. He was an avid reader with a particular interest in American history, often sharing interesting facts or stories he had discovered. He also found great peace by the ocean and loved spending time at the beach, where the sound of the waves and the salty air always seemed to make him happiest. Hal also had a lifelong love of animals and a soft heart for any creature in need—another reflection of the kindness that lived beneath his humor. He is survived by his twin sister, Phyllis Levinson, and remembered with love by her late husband, Robert. He is also survived by his nieces: Bonnie and her daughter Skylar; Leslie and her children Jacob, Ryan, and Teagan; Jaime and her husband Dave and their children Isla and Elodie; and Randi and her husband Matt and their children Kayla, Jakob, Emmet, and Oliver. He is also survived by his lifelong friends Diane Brodsky, Pamela Withee, and Gail Delano, along with many other loving friends and extended family.
Hal was predeceased by his parents, Solomon and Evelyn Weinstein.
He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for his humor, his stories, and the many memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His family finds comfort in knowing that the laughter he shared and the love he gave will continue to live on in their hearts.
