Gertrude “Trudy” M. (Gross) Creedon of Hyde Park, MA passed away peacefully at her home on July 13, 2026. She was 96.
Trudy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who loved to host large family events. She was a lifetime member of Holy Name Parish where for many years she sang in the choir and served as a eucharistic minister. She volunteered with the ministerial services at Lemuel Shattuck Hospital and was a lifelong advocate for people with mental health challenges and those with disabilities.
She was a long-time employee of Verizon and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. After retirement she gave guided tours of Boston for Boston by Foot and organized trips for the many organizations she belonged to.
In addition to the Holy Name Choir, she sang with Brookline Chorus, Avenue of the Arts Chorale, and the Quincy Choral Society. She loved to travel, attend the theatre and concerts, go out for dinner, and visit local wineries.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Creedon, Sr., her son Kevin J. Creedon, her granddaughter Emily C. Haynes, parents George H. Gross and Gertrude T. (Dame) Gross, her sisters Theresa Gillis, Virginia Gross, Mary Gross, and her brothers George Gross and Frank Gross.
She is survived by her children Joseph Creedon, Jr. (June) of Norfolk, MA, Karen Rothermel of Hyde Park, MA, Maureen Bass (Raymond) of Canton, MA, Laura Creedon of Brookline, MA, Diane Creedon of Frederick, MD and Joanne Creedon of Hyde Park, MA and her sisters Florence Tower of Moorestown, NJ and Joan Whittaker (John) of Scituate, MA. Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury, on Monday, July 20 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Holy Name Church on Tuesday, July 21 at 10:00am. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
