Hilly, Ellen M., of West Roxbury, formerly of Roslindale, died September 25, at the age of 78.

She was born on July 9, 1945, the oldest child and only daughter of the late William F. and Eleanor Hughes Hilly. She was the cherished granddaughter of the late Charles F. Hilly, Esq. and Helen McIntyre Hilly, and the much-loved niece of the late Kathryn, Annette, and James Hilly, her de facto parents throughout their lives.

Ellen was the loving and beloved wife of Robert J. Strossi and mother of Robert, Jr. of Ashfield and Owen of Cambridge, and the paternal grandmother of Montana Hitchcock of Easthampton. In addition to her husband, sons, and granddaughter, she leaves one brother, Daniel C. Hilly of Beverly. She was predeceased by her brothers William Jr., James, Richard, and Gerard. Ellen was also predeceased by her dear friend, Liga Lenbergs Krastins, whose family provided Ellen with comfort and support in her adolescence.

Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Saturday September 30, at 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Holy Name Church at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Friday September 29, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree.
