Teacher, musician, and scholar, Ellen Hill, of Dedham, died surrounded by her loving family on February 24, 2016. She is survived by her son, Matthew and his wife Vickey, of Pottstown, Pennsylvania; her daughter Erin and her husband José Argueta of Washington, D.C. and her awesome grandsons, Owen James and Theo Elliot. She is also survived by her brothers Daniel Doherty and Neil Doherty in Berkeley, California, and her sister Ann Doherty of Norwood, as well as several loving nieces and nephews, and her dear companion, Dr. Seth Silverman. She was preceded in death by her sister Maureen Woodson and brother Joseph Doherty. Ellen had a generous heart and a wicked sense of humor. She was a talented special education teacher who could reach and inspire kids no matter where they were starting from. She will be fondly remembered for her remarkable strength and grace in the face of adversity, and her ability to make everyone around her laugh through it all.
