Edythe B
(Barron) Venet
April 22, 1949 – July 24, 2023
Edythe B. Venet, "Edie", of Framingham, passed away peacefully on July 24th, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.
Edie was the youngest of three children born to the late Jacob "Jack" and Ruth (Fremerman) Barron in Boston, MA on April 22, 1949. She attended Hyde Park High School, later serving as a clerical worker and notary public in her brother Mel's law practice. Edie went on to work as an administrative and executive assistant for many years, often serving as a friendly and joyous foil to stuffy or straitlaced corporate environments.
She was a devoted wife, proud mother of two, and lover of music, arts, and crafting. While working at New York Life, she was a founding member of "Purls of Hope", a crocheting group that donated their creations to charity. Always seeking artistic outlets in creative ways, Edie dabbled in chocolate sculpture, photography, zen tangles, illustration, and ceramics.
Edie, with a smile that lit up a room, found happiness in simple pleasures and especially loved spending time with her close and extended family of children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Edie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Steve Venet, her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter Eric B Venet, Meredith Porter, and Abigail Venet; her son, his girlfriend, and grandson Jesse Venet, Amanda Sonnenfeld, and Jaden Venet. Edie is also survived by her sister-in-law Carol Barron; her niece Susan Finn (Barron) and her husband Mitch Finn, and their children and grandchildren Jenna, Reagan, Finley, Alex, Zoe, and Colton; her nephews Scott Barron and Sean Barron, and Sean's children Shane and Jaklyn; her nephew Randall Barron and his wife and children Kathleen, Ashley, and Drew; her niece Bethany Niazian and her children, Abigail and Nicolas; her nephew Dr Seth Barron and his children, Zachary, Joshua, and Annie; her nephew Dr. Kenneth Barron and his wife and children, Dr Katherine Kimbrell, Jack and Juliett; and her close friends, Lilly Anolik and Julie Murphy. She was predeceased by her brothers Michael Barron and Melvin Barron.
A graveside funeral service will be held, Monday, July 31st, at 1 PM, at Beth El Cemetery at 774 Baker St, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
Visitation and Shiva will follow from 3 PM to 7 PM at the home of Eric B Venet and Meredith Porter, 27 Ephraim Dr, Mansfield, MA 02048.
