Dennis Eugene Wright was born on June 16, 1951 in New York City. He passed away in the West Roxbury Veterans Medical Center on February 27, 2020, at the age of 68. He died due to complications of various illnesses.
Dennis had a very adventurous life. He lived and loved on his terms and did it his way. He was loved by many and had a very big heart. Dennis served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He received his Bachelors' Degree from Bridgewater State University. Dennis worked as a substance abuse counselor before retiring. He loved to teach others techniques to better their lives. Harry, his son, stated "He helped me in ways I didn't even know I needed help with. Many lessons Dennis taught will be passed on to generations to come." In addition, Dennis' niece Tshaiva {Number One} said "You helped me through the toughest times in my life. You became my motivational speaker and life coach. You gave me the strength to face life's twists with clarity." Dennis spent his free time listening to Blues and Jazz music and watching boxing events. He loved his family to popup for quick visits and felt blessed when they stopped by. Dennis stated, "I've been blessed from on Mount High."
Dennis was born to Harry Wright and Miriam Matthew-Wright. Harry and Miriam had two children, Joyce Scatliffe and Dennis Wright. Miriam passed away. Then Harry married Mary L. Gilmore-Wright. Dennis was blessed to have two loving mothers in his lifetime. Harry and Mary had three children, Marcia Kelley, Donna Jemmott, and Gregory Wright. He had Uncles Leroy, Charles and Morris Wright and an Aunt Charlotte Minter. Cousins Mickie and Butch. Nieces Tshaiva M. Kelley-Duncan {Number One}, Shareese N. Scatliffe, Tshaiva E. Kelley, Shemaiah Kelley, Tehillah Scatliffe, Simone Jemmott-Cook, Damaris Jemmott, Malikah Kelly, Niecy Hines, Mia Thomas; and nephew Maurice Kelly.
Dennis had six children. Dennis and Stephanie Walker-Wright were blessed with three children. Sherell Brown-Freeman, "Big" Dennis Wright and Derrick Wright. Then Dennis had another son named "Lil" Dennis with Val. Lastly, Dennis had two more children with Margaret Ann Wright; Denise White and Harry Mains. He was extremely blessed with 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and was referred to as "Grandad."
Dennis will be laid to rest at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA 02542 on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 12:35pm.
