Damore Alexandria West, who was also often referred to as D by his family, passed peacefully in his sleep during the night or sometime early morning of Thursday, July 30th. He was born August 4, 1977 and this month would have been his 49th birthday. Damore was born here in Boston, MA at what is now known as Brigham and Women's Hospital. He began his education at St Mary's Elementary and John D Philbrick Elementary schools, then Irving Middle school, and finally at Boston Latin and Snowden International for high schools.

Damore was very quiet but an intelligent thinker. As a child, he liked to take various items apart just to see if he could put them back together again. This was a trait that he certainly inherited from his father, Bennie. As a teenager and young adult, he enjoyed working out and spending a lot of time with his friends and family. Damore was also an avid reader, a habit both he and his younger sister share to this very day. Comic books, regular books, whatever Damore could get his hands on he would spend his time reading. When Damore's own two children were old enough, he took them to the library with him whenever he had the chance. There, he would read to them and give them the opportunity to expand their own knowledge and horizons through books. He was at the library so often that his presence left an impression on the workers there.

Everyone who knew Damore, knew that he was also an artist at heart. Growing up, he would draw on anything within a pencil's reach. He would draw on his body, on his clothes, and on the walls at home, until his mother decided to buy him some drawing paper. After this, his talent for drawing truly blossomed. He entered a contest for Boston where he came in 4th place, and had dreams of eventually putting his artwork on T-Shirts and selling them. At one point, Damore had gotten a job downtown at an art company. One of the bosses at this company was so impressed with Damore's talent, he told his mother that if Damore continued drawing professionally, he believed that Damore could have landed an opportunity working for Disney.

Ever since the passing of his late father, Bennie M Raye, Damore had his share of struggles but he always found the strength to wake up each day and keep going, especially for his children. He leaves behind two awesome children: Damore Jr and Elizabeth. In addition to them, Damore will be greatly missed by his mother Sonia WestRaye, his siblings: Shaunte WestRaye, Evette Elizaga, Bennie Raye Jr, Marlon Raye, and Mashadee Raye and a large handful of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
