Lassen, Coralou P. "Corky" died August 26, 2020 at Westford, MA. She was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on July 3, 1930. To the late Robert L. Peel and Harriet E. Peel. In 1939 the family moved to Newton Massachusetts where she graduated from Newton High in 1948. She graduated from Boston University with a degree in psychology and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. It was at BU where she met and married her late husband, Robert T. Lassen. After he returned from the Korean conflict they settled in Westboro, Mass, where Corky taught sixth grade for three years and where they raised their children. She is survived by her daughter Pamela A. Lassen of Mason, NH, and her son Robert P. Lassen of Winchendon, MA and her grandchildren Brittany N. Lassen and Cody P. Lassen. Volunteering meant a lot to her. While in Westboro she volunteered at the Westboro State Hospital, The Westboro Elementary School, and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. After moving to the Cape in 1980 she began volunteering at Cape Cod Hospital in 1982. In 1999 she had a book published by the title of "Dear Sarah, Letters Home from a Soldier of the Iron Brigade". It is a collection of letters her great-grandfather, Cpl John H. Pardington, wrote from the battlefields of the Civil War before he died at Gettysburg. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her name to the Harwich Fire and Rescue Team would be very appreciated.
