Clarence Andrew Hill Jr., passed away at Parkway Health Center, West Roxbury, on Good Friday, April 10, 2020.
He was born to parents Clarence Andrew Hill, Sr and Maizie Elise Palmer-Hill, on August 6,1939, in Framingham, Mass. Clarence graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High school in Cambridge, Mass. Clarence served his country as a sailor and marine and sacrificed 8 years of his life in doing so.
He was a loving and devoted husband, married to Esther Elizabeth Fisher-Hill, in 1964, they were married for 35 years until Esther passed in 1993. Clarence remarried in 2000 to Mildred Reid-Hill who preceded him in death in 2018. Clarence is survived by his 4 children Brian Hill, Robin Hill -Emmons (Willie Emmons), Michael Hill (Lisa Hill) and Kelley Phelps (Tracy Phelps). He is also survived by a brother, Robert Hill. Sisters, Anita Gatewood, Debbie McAuliffe, Donna Harris, Teresa Hill, Nancy Hill & sister, Barbara Willis who preceded him in death. He leaves fond memories to cherish with 7 grandchildren Steven Edwards, Ashley Hill, Miche Durant, Paul Hill, Mikyle Hill, Nikya Hill, Nijal Hill & 3 great grandchildren, Christian Hill, Harmony Lenord & Cameron Hill. A host of relatives and friends are left with fond memories as well.
Clarence will be remembered for his passion and dedication of his work as an entrepreneur. He owned and operated Hill & Son's Moving company for 45 years. He performed relocation services for hundreds of families to include moving the first African American family into South Boston public housing. He also performed relocation services for Boston City Hall during major renovations in the early 1990's. Clarence had an adoration for fishing, and he loved boating. He spent a great deal of his time in Cape Cod as a result. An avid church goer, he served Kings Cathedral of Rhode Island as a senior deacon for 15 years. He loved jazz, gospel music and watching Jeopardy nightly.
A celebration of Clarence's life will be held at a later date. The family will make an official announcement at such time.
The family would like to thank the multitude of friends and family members who have reached out to express their heart- felt condolences and thoughts during such a difficult time.
