Obituary

Of Stoughton, formerly of Roslindale, (2/17/23), Carol Ann (Roddy) Donovan, beloved wife of Robert Donovan and devoted mother of Patrick and his wife Katrina of Winthrop, MA, Joseph and his wife Tara of Staten Island, NY, Erin and fiance Dimitri Panagopoulos of Los Angeles, CA. Loving grandmother of Robbie of Winthrop. Dear sister of Clare and James Fedolfi of Hillsboro, NH, Sister Janet Roddy, MFIC of Augusta, GA, Ellen and Richard Ronzio of Maynard, MA, David and Sylvia Roddy of Rio Rancho, NM, Diane and John Flynn of West Roxbury, MA. Dear sister-in-law of the Very Reverend Richard Donovan, OFM, the late Paul Donovan and his surviving spouse Marguerite and the late Thomas Donovan and his surviving spouse Susan.

In addition to her immediate grieving family, Carol is survived by a great host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins, every one of whom was showered by her infinite love, unfailing generosity, and fierce support. She brought laughter and fun to every gathering and chronicled all with her camera.

Carol graduated from Boston College in 1971. She was a dedicated educator throughout the following years, first with her children at home, then over many years in elementary schools, continuing to tutor long after her tenure in the classroom was over. She was creative and untiring in her efforts to open young minds to the wonders of the world.

Carol was kind and generous to all, extending her love to friends, colleagues, neighbors and the needy. No task was too difficult, no expense too great if it meant helping someone. She loved her home, her family, her summers at Brant Rock. She loved spending time with Robbie. She loved to bring people together, to solve problems, and to take action when action was needed.

Carol most recently had a beautiful red car with a spacious trunk in which she kept anything you might need: games, toys, treats, clothes, books, household gadgets and canned goods. If you needed it, she had it in the trunk. That trunk is a metaphor for Carol: she had everything you needed to be happy and feel loved. We will miss her every day.
