Obituary

Anne T. Scanlon of Boston passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Mission Hill, Roxbury to the late Michael and Elizabeth Foley, Anne was a longtime resident of West Roxbury and enjoyed her summers on Cape Cod in Dennisport. Anne was the beloved wife of the late Leo F. Scanlon, loving mother of Joanne Rusk (Leo), Michael Scanlon, Susan Cherry (Patrick), Stephen Scanlon (Ingrid), Barbara O'Brien (Matthew), Leo Scanlon (Linda) and Maureen Duffy (John).

Beloved grandmother of Jennifer, Leo, Christopher and Emily Rusk, Caroline Tobin, Julie and Heidi Scanlon, Matthew and Delia O'Brien, Jack and Allison Duffy and Carly Scanlon. She was the sister of the late Daniel Foley, Mary Rourke and Timothy Foley.  She is survived by her sisters; Julia Burns and Elizabeth Curtin and her brother Michael Foley.  Anne was the loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Anne worked in the Boston Public Schools and had a long-time position in City Hall, Boston in the Department of Public Works. Anne (nana or nana-anna)  loved spending time with her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending Mass with her sisters and attending senior activities with her beloved son Michael and many friends.  She was an amazing daughter, wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor.  Her Irish heritage and family "across the pond" were also very important to her.

Funeral from The Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Wednesday August 20, at 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in The Holy Name Church at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours in the funeral home on Tuesday August 19, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
