Smith, Albert W. at 71, on September 14, 2015. A 40 year resident of Beaumont TX, formerly of West Roxbury (Boston) MA. Beloved husband of the late Joan Lee (Ward) Smith. Devoted son of the late Charles H. Smith and the late Mary T. (Tierney) Smith. Dear brother of Jeanne M. Smith and her wife Norma L. Slater of Walpole MA, Paul J. Smith and his wife Theresa of Centerville MA, Edward J. Smith of Andover MA, Eleanor M. Foote and her husband Robert J. of Walpole MA, Peggy L. Tocci and her husband Peter D. of Groveland MA, Barbara A. Lukkarinen of Columbus GA and the late Charles F. Smith. Al will also be greatly missed by his 14 nieces and nephews and his 7 great nieces and nephews. Al was a 1965 graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, Long Island, NY. He was a U. S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine Officer with a U. S. Naval Reserve Commission. He later retired from the U. S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration after a career as a marine surveyor. Interment and funeral services will be private.
