Roy A. Paine, 56, passed away on October 14, 2019 surrounded by his family.
Roy was the loving son of the late Harry R. and Shirley A. Paine. Roy is survived by his children Melissa Paine and Alexander Paine, grandson Spencer Corrales and his siblings Rick Paine, Kathy Maloney, Barbara Vigneaux, Susan Mansfield and John Paine. Roy leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and many very good friends.
Roy grew up in Saugus, MA and attended school there before entering the U.S. Navy, where he was awarded a peacetime medal. He was extremely proud to serve for his country and participated in many Memorial Day parades.
After leaving the service, Roy went on to work for the US Post Office, then proudly went to school and became an IT professional, all while raising his family with his former wife Lynne Paine. In later years, he moved to North Carolina where he was surrounded by the beauty and peace of the mountains.
Roy enjoyed many outdoor activities, concerts, reading, challenging mind games of which Scrabble was his favorite, and shared his love of these activities with his kids, wife and extended family. Roy wrote a book “Bumbly Bee Can’t Fly” and read the book to many children at the Children’s Hospital in Boston to give them encouragement. He had a remarkable intelligence and gift for laughter. He will be sadly missed.
A memorial service will be held on November 9, 2019 at 2:00pm at the Second Congregational Church, 173 B Washington Street, Boxford, MA.
