Jesus Moncayo
January 22, 1922-November 19, 2019
Jesus Moncayo, of Roslindale, MA was just shy of celebrating another holiday season with family and his 98th birthday.
Born and raised in Riobamba, Ecuador, Jesus eventually moved to the town of Ancon. There with his wife, daughter and other beloved family members, he worked for many years as a driver for the British oil company Anglo Ecuadorian Oilfields, Ltd.
He came to the United States in 1970, and moved just outside of Boston to a triplex home in Roslindale. He retired from Harvard University and enjoyed his retirement years taking care of his home.
Through the years, he enjoyed playing Naipes or Rumikkub, dancing at parties, watching sports (boxing), listening to his favorite records, trips to the beach and to the flea market. If you frequented Jamaica Pond in the morning, it is likely you would catch him doing another pastime that kept him young and strong - exercising along the pathway.
Señor Moncayo, Don Manuel, Papa had a big smile, a solid hug and a generous heart.
He was a man of peace and strength.
He leaves behind his wife Elvira, a daughter Laura, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and friends.
